Life can slip through our fingers if we let it. It truly goes by so quickly. Year upon year seems to whizz by.
Then all of a sudden you get to an age where you can look back and go holy moly, this is living. It is actually happening and I’m right in the middle of it! Yip, this post is to remind you that you are sweetheart…you are right in the middle of this thing called life.
It’s so easy to just go on living on autopilot. Things don’t necessarily change much day-to-day and the next thing you realize, nothing has actually changed much in years.
If you can’t tell I like change. I’m not saying it’s always comfortable or even exciting. It can be nerve wracking, challenging and just plain hard! But change is a damn good measure of growth. I can remember reading a quote once that said something along the lines of:
“You know you’re not living if you live the exact same year twice”
Well I couldn’t agree more.
So how do you get on with living a thriving life? One in which you are continually growing as opposed to stagnating. One in which you challenge yourself to step outside you comfort zone and reach for the stars. It comes down to intention. You need to live your life with intention.
Living intentionally requires you to take a good hard look at life and be honest with yourself about where you want things to change and where you are out of sync with your dream future.
Here are three quick steps to get you started with thinking about life intentionally:
1.Do a quick life audit.
What are the areas that are important to you in life? It may include Family, Career, Finances. Once you have your list, rate your satisfaction in these areas from 1-10. Be honest with yourself.
2. Identify where you are out of line with your ideal life.
The life audit will help you objectively assess which areas of your life you need to focus on most. It will help you recognize where it is that life isn’t quite measuring up. So often we leave this stuff uncovered and actually don’t ever truly face up to what isn’t working as we would like.
3. Create a plan.
Be ballsy enough to create a plan. Believe you can have an amazing life just like the one in your dreams and start taking action to get there. Action is key here clearly. The plan helps you work out what you need to do to get to where you want to be. Change doesn’t typically happen in giant leaps, but having a plan can help you see how you can move forward and make it feel manageable. Sometimes the planning stage and keeping yourself accountable through the tough times can be a little tough, and this is truly where a life coach can help no end. If you can’t see the full path, start with the first steps.
I truly believe life is ours for the taking. Going with the flow of things, and letting life see where it takes you is one angle. My preference is to take life by the horns and get every damn bit you can out of it. But that requires you to shut down the autopilot. It re quires you to step out of your programming and honestly question what it is you need from life. If requires you to live your life with intention.
